Will be back under the tent behind Phoenix

This year’s weekend event will be held in a tent behind Phoenix, with the Opening Reception, Friday, 7/15, 7-9 p.m. and run through Sunday 7/17, 4 p.m.

What is 40 ART?
Bucks County’s original, all anonymous, all 5” x 7”, all $40, Art Exhibit open to all

Artists - professional and self-taught, are all invited to submit up to 2 pieces of original, unsigned, 5 x 7” artwork, any subject or in any media. They need not be matted or framed but if so, still must be a finished size of 5” x 7”. Submissions will be accepted at Phoenix Art Supplies & Framing, July 1-8 only, and are guaranteed to be exhibited. There is a $5 submission fee for either one or two pieces.

The twist of the show is that all pieces are sold anonymously. Once you have purchased a piece, the artist’s name is revealed. A purchase might reveal that for $40 one has acquired the work of one of the area’s top artists…or the work of an unknown artist to watch out for. Those in the know come early to have a first shot at the selection of hundreds of works of original art, all priced at $40.

Watch and learn about this ancient technique of painting with pigmented hot wax. An unusually versatile medium it can be used as a brilliant paint, can be layered creating a lovely translucent effect and can be worked sculpturally to provide deep texture with a three dimensional look.
